George IV Newcastle silver melon shaped creamer, 1829.
Heavy quality silver melon shaped cream jug with acanthus leaf handle and wonderful
floral border round the top. The 4 feet are decorated with shells and scrolls.
The silversmith is John Walton, who after his partnership with John Robertson 11 finished in 1820,
became the biggest silver manufacturer in Newcastle until he retired in 1866.
The Newcastle Assay Office closed in 1883.
