Antique Edwardian Silver Vesta Case Dated 1902, Henry Griffiths and Sons
Antique Edwardian silver vesta case dated 1902, Henry Griffiths and Sons
Hallmarked in Chester, although the maker was based in Birmingham.
This vesta case has a good working spring so the top flips up with just a
flick of the thumb.
Originally most of these match-cases hung on the end of a silver watch chain and went into a waistcoat pocket.
Nice ivy engraving on both sides, with a grooved section underneath
for striking non-safety matches.
